The Neko Pandemic
It all started on a quiet summer morning in a town in The Middle of Nowhere, Illinois. It was the worst possible place for the pandemic to start, if you could even call it a pandemic. It only affected a select few and only through contact with the pathogen. The government will deny it ever happened, and so will those who came into contact with the pathogen. In fact, few remember the day they were bitten and contracted the virus.

It all began in the house of twenty-two year old Jeff Burns. He'd dedicated the past four years of his life to the pursuit of genetic manipulation, specifically in modifying human beings to nekos, cat people. He intended the test subjects of his various experiments to be the homeless, but his previous test had gone horribly wrong. Instead of a homeless man, Jeff had taken a lawyer, and in the process of the test he had killed the man. It wasn't until afterwards, while watching the news, that he understood the deep shit he was in.

Of course, he had never been discovered as the killer of four homeless men and a lawyer. They'd never discover him. He'd built an oven in his basement to dispose of the bodies.

His big break came a year after the death of the lawyer, during a visit to Japan. He went as a man, and returned as the very thing he was trying to create. And from there, the girl known as Lily would bite her first victim, a young boy she was in love with, and the process would continue for a few years before the UN put aside land so that the thriving neko community could prosper.

One of the stranger things about the virus is the fact that it changes the clothes and personality of the person infected. It can also make a person younger. One of the main reasons for a land for nekos to be created was specifically because of how appealing people would find the idea of being younger, being a girl, and being cute.

That's the thing about the neko community, it is made up exclusively of females. The females meet a male human, they bite him, he becomes a young girl, and the process continues, thus ensuring the survival of the neko community. In Japan, where Jeff became one of them, he came across one of only a few tribes of the girls living, unbeknownst to humans, in forests. They were an almost extinct species before Lily returned to the United States and met a twenty year old man named Dean Young.

Case One: Dean Young
Dean was in love with Lily, there was no doubt about that. Of course, he told nobody of his romance with the neko, as that was a completely ridiculous notion. Bringing a girl with cat ears home; he may as well have brought home a cat and told his parents he wanted to marry it. So he kept their relationship a secret. Lily was a pink haired, five foot four girl of nineteen years who had a perky personality. She was also rather frisky, occasionally sitting on Dean's lap and kissing him with lots of tongue.

Dean, in his third year of college, was always busy, so the few precious moments he could get with his love, he took. And they took it hard. Neko women are well known for being easily able to seduce those who they see as perfect potential mates.

"From what we can tell, the neko sees her male companion as a female." Psychologist and neko expert Franklin Leech said. "They see the man as who he will become after being bitten rather than the man he is."

Dean had no clue how nekos operate as he was the first recorded victim. On a cold Friday night in February he was with Lily in his apartment when he asked her if she'd ever marry him.

"Of course." She replied.

And then she bit him. The bite, as always, was in the neck and Lily's fangs punctured his jugular. The change is not thought to be just through virus, it is also through what some are calling magic.

The first change was in Dean's body. His bones shrank, his organs as well. His skin tightened and his muscle and fat disappeared. His hair fell out, both his body hair and the hair on his head. He was left a skinny, five foot two creature.

And then the big changes started. His shoulder crashed together violently, his nails grew out. His chest expanded, blowing up to a C-cup. He began to get a girl's figure, his stomach pinching in and his hips expanding. Meanwhile, his legs became more feminine and his buttocks expanded. His member fell off, leaving behind a females genitalia. The change is said to be extremely exhilarating and one of the greatest feelings possible. He now had eggs, a fallopian tube, everything a woman had.

And then his head changed. His incisors grew longer, hair sprouted from his bald head (long and blue). His eyebrows became smaller, as did his nose and mouth. His eyes grew, huge purple orbs replacing his brown ones.

And then the cat ears appeared.

There is much discussion on why some nekos have human ears and why some nekos don't have tails. It all comes down to genetics. Dean, now Amy, had human and cat ears. Her clothes were also changing, her jeans becoming a plaid school skirt, her socks growing up to mid thigh, a pair of tiny skate shoes replacing her Nikes. Her shirt became the top of a school uniform, complete with a plaid bow. On her head appeared a hat that covered her ears. Pink ribbons tied themselves around her socks and on the cuffs of her shirt.

Lily pet Amy as she purred gently. Amy's mind had changed, she was much perkier and a little dumber. She was only sixteen now.

Now it was Amy's turn to find a mate. Lily had done her job as a neko. Now that she had mated she was able to take care of her child, Amy. It is only much later, when about two thousand nekos were given land to live on, that we would finally see that they do fall in love with each other and live married lives, though only when there is a large group of those who have chosen a human mate.
